At the January 22nd, 2019 Regular Meeting of Council, Councillor Jacob brought forward a draft Advisory Committee Policy. During the 2018 municipal election, it was very clear that our residents expect Members of Council to be fully involved in the decision-making process at all public stages. Similarly, Members of Council have an obligation to their residents to earn their annual salary. Through advisory committees, Members of Council can interact with passionate residents on a variety of key issues that they want us to investigate.
For instance, many residents have expressed concerns regarding Township finances and the lack of community engagement opportunities in the decision-making process. These all represent opportunities for Council to show leadership and to put the best interests of our residents above all else. My full report can be found on the Township's website here.
